Well, lads, A Fix of Light has been out in the world for just over a month now, and it has been the most surreal of my life. I’m still trying to catch up with myself, so for now, how about I answer a couple questions?
Thank you to everyone on Insta who sent me Qs to A!
Has writing A Fix of Light changed how you write now? (Technique, planning, world building…)
For sure! There is no greater lesson on how to write a book than…writing a book. Writing one full draft of a novel is so difficult, especially when you’ve never done it before. I had no idea what I was doing when I started A Fix of Light, and that didn’t change until I’d finished it. Then I had to figure out how to edit, haha.
Now I have a much clearer idea of what goes into writing a novel. I know what tripped me up last time, or what “mistakes” I tend to make, so I feel like I’m walking in twilight rather than pitch darkness.
What’s your dream cast for an adaptation of A Fix of Light?
Is it very boring if I say that my dream cast would be a bunch of as-yet-unknown actors in Ireland making their debut???? I think that would be fun. I’d actually be super interested to hear what other people think the cast would be.
“But Kel,” I hear you protest, “This is a Q&A, you can’t just Uno Reverse the social contract you initiated!”
I can and I will. Tell me your fan casts. Please.
